dc.description.abstractIn memoriam of Maltese restoration expert and sculptor, Renzo Gauci; particularly revered by the Maltese “Festa” Community. It discusses the religious statues, ornaments and decorations he created which greatly contributed to an important tradition in Maltese culture. Starting from his home parish, Tarxien, the article maps Gauci’s career over the years and the legacy he left behind. It also touches on the sociocultural changes happening within the island which affected the prominence of old traditions such as village & town feasts.en_GB
