| Abstract: | The present publication updates Demographic data provided in previous issues to' the year 1976, The tables are again preceded by a: brief commentary which describes briefly the main demographic features for 1976. These were: a:) a sustained increase in the Maltese population reflecting the phenomenon in evidence since 1975 of a net inflow .of migrants. b) a downturn in the number .of births and in the birth rate following their uptrend between 1973 and 1975. c)a relative stability in the number of deaths and the death rate, and d) a sustained high rate of marriages prevalent since 1971. |
