Socio-cultural initiatives for the locality of Xagħra, Gozo : Volume 2

Abstract

The fourth Xagħra Local Council deemed imperative the identification of potential, implementable, socio-cultural initiatives for the locality in order to develop in a coherent manner the resources falling within its boundary. The scope of this study is to identity these initiatives; initiatives aimed to enhance and promote the heritage of Xagħra. Heritage, the legacy that past societies developed and exploited for their existence, is forming the present, the medium through which it is being transformed and sustained for posterity for future generations.

Volume 2 includes the following surveys of Xaghra: topography, geology, soils, land use, cultural assets, natural assets, scheduled areas and geocultural setting. The latter includes computer generated 3-D imagery of Xaghra prior the erection of the UNESCO listed World Heritage Site of the prehistoric, megalithic temples of Ggantija.
