| Abstract: | The Maltese Islands were still under Aragonese rule at the beginning of the 16th century. But it was to end under different masters. The Islands were to be given as a fief to the military order known as the Order of St. John, and because of this they became one of the best fortified Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. |
