Abstract: Statuettes and other figures discovered in our prehistoric temples, provide clear indications that wearing of some form of 'tailored' dress was already resorted to, in ancient times. There is nothing extraordinary about this, but it means that later fabrics must have posed the problem of tackling the folds and wrinkles which appear during use.
