Abstract: Sliema, the promontory stretching along the western mouth of Marsamxett Harbour, is one of the largest and most densely populated areas in the island. Bounded with St. Julians on the west and Gzira on the south-west it covers hardly an area of a quarter square mile. Yet, it is considered as the leading tourist and commercial centre in the island.
