Abstract: The European Conference on "Integrating Social and Family Policy for the 90's" was organized by the Ministry of Social Policy in Malta in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the United Nations Centre for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs. It took place in the Mediterranean Congress Centre, the former Hospital of the Order of st. John, in Valletta, Malta, on 1-4 November 1989. The conference celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Council of Europe and the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on Social Progress and Development. The objectives of the conference were: Exchanging ideas and experiences on existing social policy in different European countries - Finding ways and means to integrate social policy on the basis of dominant as well as newly emerging family needs and patterns - Collaboration between European governments and NGOs for the promotion of an integral social policy of the 90's.
