dc.description.abstract	We go down a few stone steps bordered by a wooden railing painted green and we come to a pretty ornamental fountain which is much admired. When the writer was a boy he remembers that the base of this fountain had five shields sculptured on it representing the badge of the Royal Lancaster Regiment (the old 4th of the Line) which framed their badge of the Lion of England passant gardanl. Sad to relate, these shields have exfoliated to such an extent that they are no longer visible to the naked eye. As one of the oldest Regiments of the British Army it has a long Roll of Battle Honours amongst which is Waterloo where it lost heavily. The King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) merged with the Border Regiment in 1959 to become the King's Own Royal Border Regiment. The Lancasters spent three years in Malta in 1895-1897.	en_GB
