Abstract: She has always been herself a company of characters, doing countless impersonifications: from a Victorian purist to a drab old hag, from an emotional, melodramatic and forlorn wife to a hideous witch with a remarkable laugh impregnating evil. Glamour and money beyond her own needs embarassed her all her life and until extraordinarily late in her life she was still on the look-out for prospective talent to fit her nostalgic vision of the theater.
