Abstract: A meeting of various personages interested in drama was held at the Government Elementary School at the Grand Harbour end of Strada Cristoforo, in Valletta, on October 15, 191 0. As a result of this meeting the Malta Amateur Dramatic Club was born. In those distant days membership was restricted to officers and their wives of the British Army and Royal Navy. Later, membership was opened to members of the Union Club which was then housed in the Auberge de Provence, in Strada Reale - what is now the National Museum of Archaeology in Republic Street, Valletta.
