Abstract: | A cursory survey of critical reactions to the work of Alfred Chircop reveals a somewhat surprisingly consistent two-fold pattern: the foreign and . the local. The foreign critics tend to focus on Chircop's language. Let's take as their first representative C. G. Argan, perhaps the most prestigious of contemporary Italian art critics. In 1962, he exceptionally accorded his attention and patronage to the young Chircop's Rome debut, in a brief notice of glass-cutter sharp perceptiveness. |
