Abstract: The immunohistochemical expression of p53 protein was examined in a series of 400 breast carcinomas. This aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between altered expression of the tumour suppressor gene p53 in breast cancer cells with various histopathological variables, the overall survival of patients and their response to treatment. The median follow up time was 6 years. The expression of the p53 protein was evaluated immunohistochemically on archiva specimens which were formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
