Citation: A pilot study of road traffic accidents with special reference to the aging driver in the community. Malta.
Abstract: Modern man’s lifestyle is definitely not all advantages. There were 10,862 road traffic accidents in 1983 with 24 fatalities. This shows a large increase from the 1964 figure (19 years previously) – i.e. 1455 accidents. Thus the motor car is clearly a factor associated with a high mortality in our country. This project tries to investigate the impact of road traffic accidents with special reference to the aging segment of the population. The project was not only confined to looking up records at Police H.Q. and an insurance company. The members of the study group went out into the community with a questionnaire put to the aging group of drivers in order to glean personalized information.
