Abstract: | A few months ago, I had the good fortune to view an oil painting that had just been cleaned and conserved. The painting, in its ornate carved and gilded frame, is splendid; it depicts an early morning view of the Grand Harbour; however, in addition to the skillful rendering of the familiar bastions, one's eye is immediately drawn to the bustle and activity of the goings-on in the harbour. |
