Abstract: The aim of this study was to explore concerns University of Malta (UM) students with dyslexia have and how these factor into their emotional wellbeing. Semi-structured interviews were used to gather information about the experiences and thoughts of five participants. Data gathered were then analysed using Thematic Analysis. Five themes were generated: “The Social Experience”, “Personal Support”, “Structural Support”, “Psychological and Emotional Impacts” and Effort for Success”. These individuals’ narratives show how multiple factors influence the psycho-emotional experience of individuals with dyslexia. The ways in which these influence them is not exclusive to the dyslexic profile but varies according to individual experiences and the meanings attributed to those experiences. These experiences were discussed in relation to current and relevant literature.
