Abstract: This thesis attempts to expound a number of issues surrounding the concept of trade unions in industrial action. This dissertation discuses the Maltese, Italian and English positions in succession. During the process some of the civil immunities and liabilities of trade unions in industrial action are delved into in some detail with a particular accent on the recent innoviations in English labour law. An attempt has been made to highlight a number of similarities and differences in the way the different national systems of labour law approach the subject.
