Abstract: | Project financing, an increasingly popular vehicle for funding large-scale international projects, is defined as the financing of an economic entity in which lenders look primarily to the earnings and assets of the entity to service debt obligations<ll. This definition is not meant to grip all the aspects of project financing in a few words but rather it is ·a prudent assessment of the advanced stages which· have been reached in this regard. Indeed the term project financing has several meanings. On one level it means lending for a project where lenders look to the general credit of one or more substantial corporate borrowers. This is, so to say, the conventional method of financing where the success or failure of the project is important but not decisive for the lenders since the corporate borrowers have other assets and business operations with which they can repay their indebtedness. |
