dc.description.abstractThis study revolves around the employee retention issue in the organizational sector in Malta. Particularly, the author refers to the 30-hour week, a modern work-life balance scheme which has recently started being implemented in Europe with notable success. In order to investigate its effectiveness in Malta; the author investigates this phenomenon with regards to its capacity to tackle employee retention. This was achieved through a single-case study of the renowned FTIAS company in Smart City. Mixed methodology research was applied, comprising of distributing an online survey to subordinates as well as performing interviews with their respective managers. These research tools were developed through an elaborate review of the concerning literature. These methods ultimately enabled the researcher to collect the essential information in order to reach the conclusions surrounding the capacity and flexibility of what this scheme can bring to the organizational landscape.en_GB
