An educational programme for female inmates at the Corradino Correctional Facility

Abstract

This dissertation focuses on the importance of education for all and highlights any bias that may be present with respect to female inmates in the prison institution. In a constantly changing society, empowerment in terms of knowledge and fulfilment is essential. Empowerment, through education, is for all, irrespective of one's background, gender race or number. Therefore, all inmates should be given the chance of finding better employment options by providing them with the opportunity for education in the first place. After assessing what type of correctional educational programmes other countries are embarking upon, the local situation will be examined, and suggestions and possibilities will be brought forward. The aim of all this is to offer ways of improving what is already being done so as to provide a means of empowerment for incarcerated people - males and females alike, too.
