An appraisal of the teaching of Arabic in Malta

Abstract

The work attempts to unveil the policy makers promptings for the snap introduction of the teaching of Arabic to all eleven plus students in secondary schools and the sine qua non proficiency certificate in Arabic at Secondary School Leaving Level for entry into the University. An evaluation will be made of the executive machinery undertaking this task:- personnel, books, AVA. The impact Arabic teaching had on Maltese learners, their reaction to it and the resulting outcome have also been the basis of painstaking research, systematic analysis and eventual appraisal.
