Abstract

In this study on Maltese folklore, I have first explained what is folklore, with reference to Maltese Folklore and what is Education. My chief aim is, to show in what way, the four major aims in Education, namely: (i) The Development of Intelligence (ii) The Formation of Character (iii) Appreciating the Cultural and aesthetic values, and passing them on to others (iv) Vocational Training. can be achieved through Maltese folklore by examining classroom situations and extra curricular activities. Finally, this study includes two lessons which I have given to a class in a primary and secondary school respectively, to show in a practical way how this can be achieved. Samples of the pupils work are included, together with a critical analysis of the results achieved during these two lessons.
