Abstract: This study attempts to investigate the difficulties dyslexic students could encounter in the mathematical field. The first chapter presents the reader with a description of different definitions about the term dyslexia together with a historical perspective of this 'syndrome'. The difficulties the dyslexic students encounter is also reviewed, while in Chapter two we discuss in more detail these difficulties in relation to mathematics. In the Chapter three we discuss the teaching of Mathematics in our schools (both Private & State Schools) and the Maltese bilingual situation. Furthermore, the textbook and resources used by the schools are reviewed. We then pass on to explain the procedure of selection of the sample together with the research methods carried out for our study. In Chapter 5 we discuss the analysis of the test while in the final chapter we put forward useful material in connection with the teaching of mathematics to dyslexic students.
