Abstract: The main theme of this work is the study of Children's Literature; the main consideration being the "Landscape" which it depicts. The work consists of four chapters. The first chapter defines the meaning and types of "Landscape" from different points of view. The second and third chapters investigate the nature of the "Landscape" present in classical and modern Literature respectively, according to a particular classification of children's books. In both these two chapters a consideration is made of the relationship between the "Landscape" and the characters' state of mind, the social, moral and cultural background and information about the geographical location in which the stories are set. The final chapter deals with an exposition of "Landscape" within Maltese children's Literature.
