Minerva : an opportunity of European cooperation for Malta within Europe

Abstract

Through this dissertation we attempted to explain why instead of restricting ourselves to conventional forms of teaching we have to develop different forms of teaching in order to best satisfy the needs of the individual, regardless constraints upon them. Therefore, keeping in mind Malta's vision within the EU in the near future, we considered the action programme i.e. MINERVA from the Socrates Programme within the EU, and explained what are the aims and objectives of the MINERVA programmes. Moreover, we analyzed why choosing MINERVA, thus by looking at the benefits of such an action. With the limitations of such a study in our islands, only 7 interviews could be carried out. These were conducted to the partners and participants of the first launch or tile MIN"ERV A proposal. An underlying question was whether Malta is ready to give way ODL and whether MINERVA is effective. Consequently due to the developments that have been developed within society as a whole with regards to ICT, it was worthwhile to make particular reference to thee-Government in Malta, because it is through the implementation of the latter that then, ODL could be given a thought by authorities. Through analysis of the data and collection of information it was revealed that ICT through ODL i.e. MINERVA would be unfortunate to do without for the new challenges in the future of Malta's education.
