Abstract: The dissertation deals with heads of school's time management, which is one of the major factors that affect school leadership and management. The study aims to examine how heads of primary schools spend their time at and away :from school. It also focuses on the value heads attribute to various tasks. Through the analysis of logbooks kept by the participating heads and the data collected from interviews and audits, it was found that demands on heads of school are ever on the increase. Day to day administration, meetings, paperwork, non stop telephone calls, unannounced visits and other interruptions tend to force heads to spend time on tasks that they do not really value. Logbook feedback made heads aware of this and realise that there are important elements such as strategic planning, effective delegation which could help them overcome this problem. This research throws light on possible action and training that could help heads to improve their time management.
