dc.description.abstractThe existence of diabetes has been reported for centuries dating back to the Egyptian period. As years passed, scientists have identified the pathophysiology of this disease and its management. Diabetes is a multifactorial disease and different types of diabetes have been reported. Even though this is a disease of antiquity, its prevalence has been on the rise, and it is a currently a global epidemic as well as public health emergency. Different stakeholders (ranging from the medical professional, to policy makers and governmental bodies) need to work together to prevent health inequalities and control this growing epidemic.en_GB
