In sending this number of the Law Journal to the Press, we pause and think. When the time comes for the next issue we students of the Academical Course of Laws 1941-46 who were responsible for the birth of this Journal will have left the University where we have spent, perhaps, the happiest years of our life. We do not intent to be sentimental or to give out the heart-rending song of the dying swan; but, as John Drinkwater in the introduction to his anthology of English verse, ''The way of Poetry: rightly observes: ''Nothing in the world gives people so much pleasure as making things"; and we cannot help feeling a certain pride when we look back and recall those great and terrible days when the Journal came into being and when we set the foundation of what we may look upon as a tribute of love to our Athaeneum. It is with hope not mixed with anxiety that we pause on the threshold of this august institution and bid farewell: anxiety, because the future is always veiled in mystery, especially in periods of transition like the present; hope, because handling the flame over to our successors in the management of this periodical, we are confident that it will be left burning and handed over and over again: a pageant of youth and activity that will defy time and will live on to the great glory of our land and of our Alma Mater.en_GB
