Abstract

This work consists of a collection of religious poems by Gozitan authors, throughout the times. I chose those poems, which are of a certain value and others that have played an important role in the formation of religious poetry. In the general introduction I gave a general idea of the terms "literature' and "poetry". Then, I mentioned the major developments occurring throughout the times as regards religious poetry. The poems chosen are divided into seven sections. The poems in each section fall under a common theme and are placed chronologically. In each section, there is an introduction where I analysed those outstanding aspects in a particular theme. I ended the work with a biographical note on the poets included in this anthology. There are also two lists, one consisting of the poems in each theme and the other containing each author's poems. This work involved long hours of continuous research work in books, journals, manuscripts, reviews and news papers. The references on each page and the bibliography found at the end are intended to be useful tools for the reader.
