Abstract: My dissertation examines the methodology of current Italian teaching practices in the Gozitan private and public school systems. All Gozitan teachers of the Italian language were presented with a questionnaire regarding the mentioned subject. Responses which were evaluated through analysis revealed to me certain aspects of the teaching methods used in the Gozitan private and public school systems, reflections about didactic perspectives and the importance of the four linguistic abilities : listening, speaking, reading and writing, the different types of activities and materials and finally the use of language in classrooms. These results assisted me in generating some prospectives which may facilitate the improvement of teaching practices of this language in Gozo.
