Abstract: Violence in Sport is a phenomenon which has struck with a rather higher intensity through the past three decades. It could be considered to be a contemporary infection which sport in general is suffering from. A number of institutions are worried by a situation which seems to be getting out of control of local and international auhtorities, but those concerned with organising sports and those concerned with the aspect of law and order in society. The Olympic Committee published an important document on Violence in 1983, following a charter by the Council of Europe, which shows clearly to what extent the situation had precepted.
