Abstract: We visited five Special Schools and focused our video filming on three of them. In the latter we observed art and craft lessons carried out by the peripatetic teacher. The first part of this dissertation (Chapters 1 & 2), considers the nature of art/craft education in general. It also studies the impact art/ craft education has on children with special educational needs. Art therapy is given due importance, being a crucial medium through which children's particular needs can be met. The second part (Chapters 3 & 4), deals with the conclusions drawn about six children's disabilities through their drawings. Suggestions and guidelines regarding the choice and use of art/craft resources, are included. Finally some activities that can be useful for the non specialized teacher of art and craft are briefly described.
