Abstract: This study examines the teaching of ethics for philosophy at 'A' Level. The methods with which ethics is taught by present teachers of philosophy and the attainment by students was investigated. Attention is drawn to the philosophical positions and moral issues which are commonly addressed in local schools and also in foreign ones. There was agreement all around on the importance of critical thinking skills, before any criticism of ethical issues is attempted. Emphasis was put on the importance of the students' backgrounds; a major source which teachers value for the attainment of correct philosophical debate. The attitudes of foreign college curricula were also analysed. These were useful to draw suggestions to be used locally.
