Abstract

Topics about 'Food and Nutrition', included in the Form 3 to 5 Home Economics Syllabus, for Group 2 students, have been incorporated in two textbooks, written in the native language. These consist of the actual text, and of a supplementary reading for further references. Both texts comprise illustrations, diagrams, extracts from literary resources, worksheets, suggestions for practical exercises and references to the local environment. The textbooks are suitable for students who are either unmotivated or with learning difficulties. Hopefully, they will help the students gain a better understanding of the New Dietary Goals, on which particular emphasis have been placed throughout all the chapters in both texts. It will also help students become more involved both theoretically and practically within the subject. As far as possible, we tried to adapt the subjects to the local needs, thus enabling students to cope more fully with their own home situations.
