L-element folkloristiku fil-proża Maltija mill-bidu sa l-1886

Abstract

This dissertation studies the various folkloristic aspects of early Maltese prose, extending up to 1886, which include writings in manuscripts, articles and books. It also establishes how the folkloristic element illustrates, and also strengthens the Maltese identity. The folkloristic content is studied as a notion in itself as well as a collection of experiences put into a literary context. Books on this period of early Maltese literature are very scant and references were mainly taken from documents and manuscripts, the only available sources.
