Malta zghira....imma sinjura : a multimedia courseware package

Abstract

This dissertation consists of an interactive multimedia programme on the Maltese biota and an accompanying manual with instructions that help the user to make the best possible use of the programme as well as a sample of class based activities. The multimedia programme takes the user on a 'trip' to the different habitats that exist in the Maltese islands. Having chosen a particular habitat, the user is then provided with information about the prevailing physical conditions, the adaptations of various groups of plants and animals as well as information about particular species that are found there. A number of teachers and students were asked to evaluate the multimedia programme. From this exercise I learnt that the students in secondary schools are greatly interested in our local biota and the development of similar productions help them to learn more and in a better way.
