Issue Date: 2012
Abstract: The aim of this long essay is to see the positive effect of music when used in catechesis. This will be accomplished by a study of the use of music in the bible. Thus, the various musical instruments and their use in the bible will be reviewed taking into consideration Jewish and early Christian rituals. In this respect, I also intend to study musical lyrics to express one's feelings, especially by the Psalms. I will also take a look at music as a means of education for the faith today during catechesis, together with a view of the use of music in the Society of Christian Doctrine (Museum) program and why its founder, Saint George Preca used various musical styles. The final chapter will consist of an analysis of a study using a simple questionnaire among students aged between 14 to 16 years. Thus I will be able to see the effect music has on these participants
