Abstract: The initial use of GIS was solely for the purpose of visualizating objects on a screen and used as an asset managment tool . However recent development in spatial technology gave this tool a big competetive advantage which when properly merged with other data information systems can create an efficient business intelligent platform.(Esri,2006) The prime scope of this dissertation was to research how modern software computing , primarily Geographic Information System (GIS) and Business intelligent (BI) tools can be integrated in order in a manner that their processes significantly improve the flow of information and decision making, in any organization . After these views were well expressed the next step of the study focused on how any company having implemented or is going to implement information systems such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA), Automatic Meter Management (AMM) and Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) can be integrated with a Geographic information system (GIS) to create this efficient Business Intelligent (BI) platform. These observations were sustained by various case studies and a proposed prototype system, by putting in focus that integration can really be achieved. 'With these functionalities GIS distinguish itself from other systems and make it vital in planning strategies for management . An integrated setup will help managers , improve workforce and optimize their business processes.' (Saudi,2012) This dissertation gives a clear view of all the necessary requirements, benefits and implications to the readers who wish to embark on such a project for their company and make use of this research as a business model guideline.
