Abstract: The study spread over one academic year, focuses on English Language Acquisition development among five three-year-olds attending the same classroom in a private Nursery School in Malta. The writers attempted to establish whether there is a connection between the children's school observed linguistic progress and home background. A literature review dealing with child Language acquisition is presented. The children's extent of vocabulary and command of syntax in relation to what is established in literature was investigated. Results showed that the children's language development is parallel to the established norms, namely because of their social background, parents' dedication and the Nursery School involved.
