Abstract: This research is aimed at broadening one’s knowledge on the topic of contraception as it delves into the types of contraceptives available on the market and how they work, what to keep in mind when selecting contraception and their pros and cons. The research was inspired by the high rates of STIs in young adults in Malta. The sample for this study targeted university students to explore their attitudes towards contraception in relation to their relationships. This was done by devising 4 research questions that focused on gender, length of relationship, their perception of knowledge they have on contraception and their main reason for using or opting to use contraception. The research questions were analysed by using a non-parametric test: The Chi-Square test. The results were also presented in bar graphs so that the results can be visualized easier. A relationship was found between the use of contraception and relationship length. A quantitative approach was applied by creating a survey specifically for this study which included 2 sections; the first section was made up of seven multiple choice questions and the second section was made up of nine Likert scale questions.
