Abstract: This paper attempts to look critically at an earlier chapter contributed by the same author to a book he himself co-edited, entitled Malta: Culture and Identity, just a decade ago. In the light of major changes that have been taking place at a strikingly rapid pace, the approach here shifts somewhat from one of attribute to process, underlying some tensions and contradictions within this complex dynamic.
