Abstract: The existence of economies of size in farm production has been the subject matter of much debate. Economists have for a number of years carried out empirical research on the subject. In his monumental work on the economics of agricultural production and resource use, Heady wrote that the problem of farm size has been a topic of debate ever since the birth of agricultural economics, and refers to a study carried out by G.F. Warren, as early as 1909, where returns to size in agriculture were analysed.
