This study takes a look at how Maltese business companies interpret the concept of corporate social responsibility. Research gives insight that CSR is a multi-faceted issue that is implemented through various approaches. Taking five Maltese companies as a focal point, the research shed light on how Maltese companies describe corporate social responsibility, and how they integrate it in their operations. The data for this research was collected via five in-depth interviews with management representatives from five local, large companies. These five case studies provided a comprehensive description and analysis of the different circumstances within which each company employs its CSR efforts. The study indicated that Maltese companies consider corporate social responsibility as an important aspect of their business. It is interpreted as a framework that has several dimensions and each company described the CSR concept according to the dimensions that relate to its business environment. This led to different emphasis on different issues, like competitive context, customer care and employee relations.en_GB
