Abstract: The aims of the present study were to investigate sex and age differences on a number of self-esteem measures as yielded by an instrument constructed by the present author; the relationship between attainment in a number of curriculum subjects and self-esteem was also investigated. This study also sought to investigate the relationship between family size, birth order, fathers' occupation, mother's occupation and the students' self-esteem. A sample of 1595 students (694 boys and 901 girls) in forms 2, 3 and 4, of the junior lyceum were selected. The following data were obtained: five self-esteem measures, seven scholastic attainment measures, family size, birth order, occupation and mother's occupation.
