Abstract: During the last decade since Prof. A.P. Vella, O.P., published his paper The Tribunal of the Inquisition in Malta in 1964, much attention has been given to the archives of the Inquisition in Malta. It was soon realised that they contain a unique mine of information through which various aspects of Maltese history could be unravelled and examined. In this thesis I have sought to centre my attention on some aspects of social history as seen through the proceedings of Mgr. Rannucio Pallaveine during the eventful years 1672-1676.
