Adults' participation in sport and leisure activities in a particular community in Malta

Abstract

This dissertation, consisting mainly of qualitative analysis and supported by quantitative research, explores the leisure activities pursued by adults. The study was carried out with over two hundred villagers living in the south of Malta. It explores several forms of leisure, but the main focus is sports. Significant results were obtained both for gender differences and geographical ones, especially when comparisons between Malta and other countries in the world are made. Based on the feedback given by the study' s participants and the characteristics of the village under study, a proposal for the realization of a community centre is then made.
