Cinema and literature : some special problems of film adaptations

Abstract

This dissertation deals with some special problems of filming plays and novels. It is divided into three sections. Section I contains the introductory chapter. This chapter argues that film adaptations are both possible and potentially worthwhile, and then defines some principles underlying the successful film adaptation. The problems of adaptation created by these principles are discussed in the next two sections.
