The transition from childhood to adulthood is a fascinating, yet challenging journey in the life of every individual. Some young people face additional challenges during this journey, for various reasons. This study investigates the experience of Maltese young people who discover having a same-gender attraction while growing up. Using a qualitative methodology, the research looks into the wide-ranging implications of such a discovery for the lives of the study participants. The emerging themes are analysed from a social and psychological perspective. A discussion on the implications of these themes for Youth Work practice in Malta ensues, followed by recommendations aimed at provoking further research into the area.en_GB
