dc.description.abstract | Purpose: The aim of this research is to seek an understanding into what the big 4 audit firms and Malta Enterprise perceive to be the main factors that attract Foreign Direct Investment to Malta. The study also aims to determine the roles of these entities in attracting the Foreign Direct Investment to Malta, and how the role has changed over the years, since Malta's accession into the European Union. Design: The objectives of the study were achieved by carrying out interviews with a partner from each of the big 4 audit firms, and with the investment manager from Malta Enterprise. Findings: The findings of the study detail how the big 4 audit firms and the Malta Enterprise believe that the Malta's taxation and regulatory systems, and being part of the European Union are the main factors that attract Foreign Direct Investment. They also discuss in detail how the role they play in attracting the Foreign Direct Investment to Malta is a vital one, the process that takes place, and the changes that have developed in this role. Conclusion: The big 4 audit firms and Malta Enterprise, with their professional expertise, are vital for Malta to continue attracting Foreign Direct Investment. The yearly investment attracted by these entities is astronomical. Implications/Value: An insight is given into the importance of Foreign Direct Investment, the factors that attract it, and how the big 4 audit firms and Malta Enterprise continually bring it to Malta with the aim of encouraging economic growth and prosperity. | en_GB |
