Purpose: The main objective of this conference was to investigate how the Digital Age is reshaping democratic politics and constitutionalism; about the implications of the Digital Age for good governance, as well as on the interaction between people and public administration. The proceedings concluded by reflecting on the Department’s role in preparing leaders for the Digital Age. The Digital Age holds forth bright prospects for democratic participation and efficient, responsive public services. It also raises threats to constitutionalism, and entails risks for human rights and freedoms: like the fire stolen by Prometheus from the gods, it can be both a blessing and curse. The earnest, open dialogue which characterised the Department of Public Policy's anniversary conference generated a similar spirit among Malta’s policy-makers, experts, advocacy groups and citizens in addressing the challenges for democratic governance in a Digital Age.en_GB
