Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to provide an art historical study of seventeenth and eighteenth century sacristies in the Maltese islands. It aims to provide an artistic appreciation of the architecture of such Baroque sacristies as well as their works of art. Baroque sacristies are of significant importance for the general study of architecture, furniture, wood carving, marble and stonework in Malta. This thesis is by no means a complete catalogue of Baroque sacristies in Malta, however, it aims at gathering and discussing a selection of such works in a chronological manner.
